This tiny device sticks on your iPhone and summarises calls with ChatGPT

A new device called Plaud Note recently came out of its Kickstarter campaign phase. This slim card-like gadget attaches to the back of your iPhone with MagSafe and captures recordings of your calls, meetings, and voice memos wherever you go. Then with a dedicated app, generates transcriptions, meeting notes, mind maps, to-do lists, and more โ€“ with the power of ChatGPT.

The tiny recorder can handle up to 30 hours of recording on a single charge, with a standby time of 60 days. When you run out, you can put it to charge using a cable that ships in box. And with 64GB of built-in storage, you can capture a staggering 240 hours of audio before running out of space.

Obviously, Plaud Note doesnโ€™t stay running all the time โ€“ in order for it to start recording, youโ€™ll have to tap the recording button. It looks quite reachable too so you can tap the back of your phone (it sticks) and get started.

But the real star of the show is the recorderโ€™s seamless integration with ChatGPT technology. After recording your audio, whether itโ€™s a meeting, lecture, or even a phone call, the companion app transcribes every word. Then, ChatGPT steps in to organise and summarise the content in four different formats: meeting notes, class notes, diary entries, and mind maps.

Essentially, the device renders frantically scribbling or trying to decipher your indecipherable handwriting later obsolete. It serves up your recordings neatly packaged and easy to digest, perfectly tailored for different scenarios.

The recorderโ€™s smart noise-cancellation means youโ€™ll capture the important details clearly, even in noisy environments.

In the view hands-on demos on YouTube, the device performed impressively, picking up audio clearly even when tucked away in a pocket, although youโ€™d want to be careful about that since call recording is illegal in many regions. It handled transcribing multi-speaker audio from a presentation video with ease, breaking down the content into handy note formats.

While digital assistants like Siri and Alexa have their strengths, the Plaud Note AI Voice Recorder could be a game-changer for streamlining note-taking and recapping important conversations.

The only sticking point is the Rs 13,270 price tag which may seem excessive. But then again, the device could be a lifesaver if you spend a lot of time on calls.
